The Whorouly Football Netball Club has a long and proud history in the Ovens and King Football Netball League. We pride ourselves on being known as the “family club” showcasing our dedication to all those involved in the club though the support, mateship and inclusiveness we display, not only to our members but to their families and the local community also.
Our players, members, sponsors, families and community are what makes our club so special both in our past and in our journey forward!
For the 2024 Whorouly season, we celebrated 120 years in the Ovens and King Football Netball League. This was a significant milestone for the club and an opportunity to reflect on the incredible history of the Whorouly Football Netball club.
Well, what a year 2024 was!!
We started the year off with major works to our netball ( pickleball / basketball ) courts . What an amazing achievement and to all who were involved in any capacity, Well Done!! While waiting for courts we thought the old football goal posts had done their job over the past fifty years and again with some fantastic efforts we were able to replace them with new ones!! How many goals were kicked though the old ones??
We had some amazing fundraisers though out the year with Will Allen shaving his dreads off to raise money for the Albury/Wodonga Cancer Wellness Centre in conjunction with our annual Pink Day. The Newton’s Pasta for Prostrate, was another huge highlight! The efforts of all involved and the support from teammates and friends was unbelievable! The WFNC and it’s community are truly amazing in supporting these events. You all should be very proud.
To all who took on roles at the WFNC especially the coaches, congratulations on all your efforts this year! It takes lots of people to make things run during the year Umpires / Trainers / Boundaries / Managers / Waterboys and girls / Timekeepers / Canteen chicks etc , Super effort !!
To all our footballers and netballers who give it their all every week, again you all should be very proud of all your achievements throughout the year on and off the field .
I am very fortunate to have an awesome committee who spend hours and hours preparing the season. From Pre season games, jumpers/dresses, functions, sponsors, merch, socials, the lists goes on .
Our goal every year is to provide a safe and happy place where everyone is welcome, a place to come and play a sport and enjoy themselves with family and friends . Thank you all for another amazing year where I personally have met and made more friends than ever, which I think is what it is all about.
Good luck everybody in 2025 I hope to see you all back at the Lions Den!!
